It is time for a walk around the Lake . There are many short walks to choose from. We always refer to the Top 60 Great Walks Book which is available from the visitor centre. With advise from the visitor centre, we took the Shadow Lake Circuit Walk. Took us 5 hours for the 15kms walk. Quite a pleasant, long walk with good views of the Lake and surrounding mountains.
Pandani plant
Unknown plant, that looks like candies!!
This is the Watersmeet. The section where the Cuvier and Hugel River meets. It is very beautiful. And Peter can wait to taste the water of this river! Aaaah REFRESHING !
At sunset, we went to jetty, to wait for the shy Platypus . . . There are hundreds of them in this lake, but they can be anywhere in this huge lake. As expected, we didn’t get to see them =.=
That night, we had an uninvited visitor in our tent! POSSUM! Stealing our food. How clever! Our tent is all zipped up, but it knows how to unzip it! We cooked in the tent that night and store some bread in the tent. The possum had been waiting for a long time outside. And when we were asleep, it crept into our tent! Gosh, we had a sleepless night because the possum keeps making noises and look for food near our tent until we put all our stuff in the car! Never ever put food in yr tent!
It was quite cold here, so we took a powered site for $35 a night at the Lake St Clair Lodge (just beside the lake). Gosh, only after payment that we know the kitchen is only for backpackers’ use (those who stay in hostel) and not for campers! Not fair, we paid that amount of money for a powered site and there’s no kitchen. And the shower requires $1 for 5min of hot water! =.=
