Sydney II

Sydney Opera House***** One of the icons of Sydney, designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon 50 years ago. Built in 1973. Truly beautiful. Classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. The roof of the building, are covered with over a million chevron pattern white & matte cream coloured tiles! When we go up close, we can see the little tiles clearly, although from far it looked so smooth and white. Entry to the Opera House only permitted by taking a tour or buying ticket performances.

Before coming to Australia, the first thing that came to our minds probably is the Sydney Opera House. Absolutely impressive design. We always thought that it is one building under the same big roof but till we come to Sydney, now we only realized that Opera House actually has 3 separate roofs with different size. What a shame! we never try to look at internet for the real view.

The Oldest Pub in Sydney @ The Rocks

The Rocks Market*****, held every Fri, Sat and Sunday.
The Rocks***** is the oldest area in Sydney. In 1788, the first European settlers - British convicts arrive here and claim the land off the Indigenous Caginal people.

Beautiful greeting cards at the Rocks market. The market is an ideal place to look for souvenirs and local arts & crafts.

Street Theatre at Circular Quay. Circular Quay is the central ferry terminals, and very near to the Rocks, Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Another street performance. We noticed that these performers usually say exactly the same jokes =.=

  1. Yup. The best view is by ferry, sit at the upper dock of ferry, enjoying the wind and the best time is sunset. Harbour Bridge + Opera House = Sydney Icons! We go for the ferry three times and still love to do that again..
