Tassie Holiday Time: Liffey Falls & Great Lake

IT’s the end of our one and half month farm work, which means the beginning of our journey around Tassie! We packed our camp for about 3 and half hours, cleaning up our 1 and half month stay here! Looks like a small camp, but really feels more like shifting house!

The three neighbour camps in Devonport Abel Tasman Caravan Park! It was an enjoyable stay, with the ease of spending our money at the nearby Coles supermarket =P And the great friends over here, exchanging experiences and sharing laughter.

We started our first day of travels with our neighbours, Han, Johnny and Yumi at the Ashgrove Cheese Farm. Even at the cheese farm, we spend a lot more time taking funny pictures than cheese tasting.

After that, we went to Liffey Falls****, about half an hour drive from the town of Deloraine. This waterfall is one of the world heritage. There is a 45min return easy track to view the waterfall. It was a picture perfect waterfall.

Really beautiful . . .
Bugs' track on the tree bark. . . Looks artistic neh. . .

The fun of this trip is to have crazy jumping moments like this à
This is where we bid farewell with them, P&A continued on to the Highland Lakes of Tassie. Not too long a drive from the falls, we keep ascending uphill and pass by the Great Lake***. There wasn’t much to see around the Great Lake, most people would come here to fly fishing. Brown trouts are plentiful. It was very cold around the highland area, we camped at the Great Lake Hotel. We took a powered site, which is a must. Freezing cold, when we set up the camp for 30min, our fingers went numb. Luckily we bought a fan heater to warm us at night . . .

The full moon at Great Lake

The hotel camp site is considered cheap, $20 for powered site with good camp kitchen and showers. The bar also provides half an hour of free wifi, with the warmth of fireplace. . Looks like a bar in the movie.

The view from hotel's bar. The mysterious Great Lake . . .
