Kakadu National Park: Mamukala

Kakadu National Park*****, one of four Australia dual heritage site for its natural and cultural values. World wide there is only 29 dual world heritage sites. The other 3 sites in Australia are Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Willandra Lakes Region and Tasmanian Wilderness.

We bought the park entrance fee for $25 per person at the Kathrine visitor centre (also available at Kakadu's Bowali Visitor Centre) which valids for 14 days. The Bowali visitor centre has good information and displays about the land and animals of Kakadu. It also has a mini theater showing videos about the national park.

Mamukala observation platform*****. Views of the flood plain. Many birds search for food here like the magpie goose, lotus bird, cormorants, ibis and jabiru.

There is an information board that explains the aboriginal's understanding 6 seasons of their country instead of the typical 4 seasons.
